Oversized Glass

Viracon is pleased to announce the addition of the latest glass manufacturing technology and fabrication equipment to increase Viracon's maximum finished product size capability. The finished size capability for most of Viracon's products is increasing to a base dimension of 120" (3048mm), a height dimension of 204" (5182mm) with an overall square foot maximum of 120 square feet (11.152m2).

Viracon is investing in these capabilities to meet growing demand from architects for larger expanses of glass in exterior facades. This demand is being driven by building owners and developers who are looking for bigger, unobstructed views and better daylight and energy management. By adding larger size capabilities to our comprehensive portfolio of architectural glass products, we are able to offer architects and building owners solutions that support their 'big glass' designs and energy conservation goals without compromise.




VNE-53, Viracon’s newest triple silver coating, offers architects, designers and building owners the ideal balance between neutral aesthetics and high-performance solar control.

VNE-53 features a neutral-silver appearance with Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) of 52% and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of .23 on low-iron glass in a 1” insulating configuration which results in an outstanding light-to-solar-gain (LSG) of 2.29.

All of Viracon’s high-performance coatings has been specifically designed to control off-angle color shift and VNE-53 is no exception. Your project will have the same great silver-neutral aesthetic when viewed from any angle.



Laminated Insulating with VNE-63 on the #4 Surface

Viracon’s highest LSG Low-E coating, VNE-63, is now available on the #4 surface of a laminated insulating unit offering protection, performance and aesthetics in one make-up! Attain necessary fallout protection for safety and hurricane applications with a laminate on the outboard of an insulating glass unit.

Viracon’s VNE-63 coating is a neutral Low-E coating that provides both optimum thermal performance and transparency.  When VNE-63 is applied on the #4 surface of a laminated insulating unit, as much as 39% improvement in u-value is gained compared to coatings on the #2 surface of the outboard laminate. Reference the product pages to obtain performance data for air or argon filled options.



Triple Insulating with ExtremEdge™


Viracon now offers the ExtremEdge™ spacer in a triple insulating unit configuration to further improve u-value performance. Upgrading from a dual pane insulating unit to a triple insulating unit can improve the center-of-glass by upwards of 28% with argon-fill. Furthermore, replacing an aluminum spacer with an ExtremEdge™ spacer gains as much as 13% improvement in edge-of-glass u-value.



Optigray® glass

Viracon is pleased to introduce Optigray® glass, a new warm-light gray glass. Optigray glass is designed to maximize light transmittance while balancing solar control performance while maximizing light transmittance. Introducing Optigray glass, Viracon’s newest substrate.

By applying one of Viracon’s high-performance coatings to Optigray glass you can achieve high levels of light transmission combined with a low solar heat gain coefficient. In addition, interior and exterior reflectivity are minimized creating an appealing solution for your next project.




With the need to balance aesthetics, natural light and solar heat gain, designers are increasingly challenged to find coatings to meet all three criteria. Viracon now offers an additional solution in its lineup of high-performance coatings. Introducing Viracon VRE-65, our newest high-performance coated glass.

Viracon VRE-65 provides form and function with solar performance similar to Viracon VE-2M along with the crisp, neutral appearance of Viracon’s other VRE coatings. Its high light transmission (59%) also allows two-way vision under varying light conditions and aids in controlling glare while providing aesthetic appeal. With Light to Solar Gain (LSG) ratios from 1.25 to 1.80 Viracon VRE-65 balances natrual daylight with energy performance.

VRE-65 joins VRE-38, VRE-46, VRE-54 and VRE-59 to further extend the wide range of insulating glass options offered by Viracon.





Designers and architects have been searching for a new substrate that combines the attractive aesthetics of a light blue-grey color and the performance required for today’s code environment.

With high levels of light transmission combined with low interior and exterior reflectivity, Graphite is an appealing solution for your next project. In addition, excellent solar control and reduced glare can be achieved when combined with one of Viracon’s high-performance Low-E coatings.



RoomSide™ Low-E

Viracon is pleased to introduce RoomSide™ Low-E, a new interior surface coating designed to improve the u-value of an insulating or laminated glass unit. The coating works by reflecting indoor heat back into the room and improving thermal efficiency.

The RoomSide Low-E coating is supplied to the interior surface side of the glass unit; number 4 surface of an insulating or laminated unit and number 6 surface of an insulating laminated, laminated insulating or triple insulating unit.

To achieve comparable u-value performance to a triple insulating unit at a lower cost, specify the RoomSide Low-E coating to the #4 surface of an insulating unit in combination with a high performance coating on the number 2 surface and an argon filled space.

Application Awareness:
Since the coating reflects radiant heat back into the room, this also lowers the interior glass surface temperature and therefore, creates potential for condensation to occur in high humidity environments.

Further evaluation is recommended for applications in cold climates with high humidity levels (i.e. greater than 30% relative humidity RH in winter), condensation resistance (CR) should be evaluated as a whole system design. Here are a few examples: Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Senior Housing, Laboratories, Swimming Pools and Museums.





In today’s tightening energy code environment we have been challenged by designers and developers to offer a low-emissivity coating with exceptional performance – a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of less than .20. Introducing Viracon VUE-30, our newest highperformance coated glass.

With its high levels of transparency Viracon’s newest coating offers you the opportunity to maximize your window-to-wall ratio while maintaining performance that exceeds current domestic energy code requirements. Viracon VUE-30 provides

natural daylight while reducing potential glare; balancing light with energy savings and low U-V transmittance.

VUE-30 has superior solar performance with a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of .18 and Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) of 31% on clear glass resulting in an LSG of 1.72. VUE-30’s solar performance is complimented by a transparent appearance that designers have been asking for.
