Configurations Insulating Laminated Glass.

Viracon insulating laminated glass provides the solar performance of an insulating unit, combined with the safety and security features of laminated glass.
Because the laminated component is designed to remain integral in the opening should glass damage occur, this configuration is commonly used in skylight, sloped, and impact glazing applications.

Solar Performance

  • Viracon Low-E coatings provide range of SHGC values to meet strict energy codes
  • Balanced VLT and SHGC optimize occupant comfort
  • Center-of-glass U-Value is reduced, minimizing heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer
  • Viracon VTS® warm-edge spacer provides improved system performance
  • Roomside® Low-E coating on the inboard lite can enhance U-Value performance

Enhancements

  • Low-E coating applied on #2 surface provides excellent solar performance and appearance
  • Silkscreen and digitally printed patterns on the #2 surface—including bird-friendly designs—and SoarSafe first-surface etch provide versatile and creative design options
  • Full coverage ceramic enamel available for spandrel
  • Flatter glass can be achieved using a thicker outboard substrate
  • Vanceva colored interlayers can be combined to achieve varying layers of translucency and color

Security/Impact Protection

  • Enhanced laminated interlayers help protect buildings and occupants against security threats such as forced-entry, ballistics, and bomb blast
  • Viracon hurricane-resistant laminates meet or exceed stringent building code requirements of Florida and other coastal regions

Safety Glazing

  • Laminated glass qualifies as safety glazing
  • Fully-tempered qualifies as safety glazing
  • Fallout protection – glass remains integral in the opening
  • Compliance
    • ANSI Z97.101984
    • CPSC 16
    • CFR 1201

Heat Treated

  • Heat treatment before applying Low-E coating, reducing the potential for distortion, leading to flatter glass

Improved Acoustics

  • Sound dampening characteristics of an interlayer increase STC and OITC ratings
  • Improved acoustics over monolithic glass
  • Superior acoustics from unbalanced inboard and outboard lites

Ultraviolet Protection

  • Blocks 99% UV light (~300 – 380 nanometers)
